Information for Sellers:
- 10% Commission is subtracted from the hammer price
- Payment is made by cheque and is sent out on the Monday following the sale, BACS payment are available and will be in your account on the Wednesday following the auction.
- All unsold items must be collected or return agreed with the auctioneers after the sale ends and collected within 7 days of the auction ending.
- Goods remaining with MK Auctions after a mutually agreed date of collection will be subject to a charge of £5 per lot per day. Continued failure to collect items may result in goods being sold without further notice and without reserve to recover costs.
Information for Buyers:
ALL INTENDING PURCHASERS MUST REGISTER PRIOR TO THE AUCTION AND OBTAIN A BIDDING NUMBER
- 15% Commission is added to the hammer price.
- Payment must be by cash or credit/debit card (3% fee for credit cards, no charge for debit cards).
- Items must be removed from the auction room by 6 p.m. on the day of sale. Collections after the day of the sale by prior arrangement.
- Delivery can be made by arrangement with the auctioneer’s for a small fee (£10 within 10 miles of the auction room; other destinations by arrangement).
- Commission bids can be left with the auctioneer at any time and telephone bids can be made during the sale by arrangement.
Our Standard Auction Terms and Conditions
1. The highest bidder is the purchaser, subject to any reserve price.
2. The auctioneer may refuse to accept any bid that, in the auctioneer’s opinion, is not in the best interests of the seller.
3. One bid only may be made on behalf of the seller. This includes the bid made by the Auctioneer on behalf of the seller.
4. The buyer is deemed to have inspected the goods carefully before auction and shall not be entitled to reject any lot or claim compensation on the basis that the goods were incorrectly described.
5. A bid by a person shall be deemed as proof that the person has acquainted himself/herself with the terms and conditions of sale.
6. In the event of a disputed bid the lot or lots shall be put up again and resold.
7. All lots to be removed from the auction venue on the day of auction unless arranged otherwise with the auctioneer.
8. Full payment must be received before any lot is removed from the auction venue.
9. The vendors will not be held responsible for any damage or loss that may take place after the fall of the hammer. All lots become the responsibility of the purchaser.
10. All lots to be paid for at the completion of the auction.
11. A bid cannot be made or accepted after the fall of the hammer.ALL INTENDING PURCHASERS MUST REGISTER PRIOR TO THE AUCTION AND OBTAIN A BIDDING NUMBER.
Terms and Conditions for Sellers
Items can be brought to the sale room between 10a.m. and 2 p.m. on the Saturday before the Sunday sale and we will provide you with a receipt for your items.
Alternatively, and for larger or multiple items, you can arrange an appointment with our valuer to come to your home/premises and will provide you with an estimate of the prices likely to be achieved at auction. If you are happy for us to proceed and would like us to collect your items then they will be subject to a collection charge. We do not charge storage fees for items that we are holding for sale in auction.
Reserves can be placed on items on discussion with the auctioneer but we are not obliged to accept items for sale if we regard the reserve as unrealistic. A reserve with auctioneer’s discretion allows us to accept bids within 10% of the stated reserve.
You will then be posted a cheque and sales advice on the Monday following the sale, payment by BACS it will be sent on the Wednesday. We do not have a minimum payment; cheques are sent to you for the full amount due to you.
Lots which fail to sell will automatically be re-entered into the next auction unless withdrawn by the vendor and subsequently removed from the premises by 8pm on the auction date unless agreed by prior arrangement. Failure to remove items from the Auction House within the given time may result in lot(s) being re-offered for auction at the discretion of the auctioneers or without reserve and without further notice to the vendor in order to recover costs. Should items remain unsold after being offered for auction on two separate occasions and not removed from the premises by 8pm on the auction day or collected by any other date agreed, will be subject to a charge of £5 per lot per day. Continued failure to collect items may result in goods being sold without further notice and without reserve to recover costs. Where applicable the vendor is liable for disposal charges. It is the responsibility of the vendor to monitor the progress of their items.
The Auction charges are as follows:
Commission: 10% of hammer price.
Lotting Fee: £1.00 per Lot; £2.50 for lots with a reserve. Unsold items entered into a second auction do not incur a second lotting fee. Items re-entered for any subsequent auctions will incur a further lotting fee.
Transport/Collection Charges (if required) are variable and agreed prior to collection but are subject to a minimum charge of £15.
If you require insurance we charge an additional fee of 1.5%. Our insurance cover is based on the lower value of our auctioneers estimate or the reserve. If you decline this option we recommend contacting your insurance company as your items may be covered by your household insurance or additional cover arranged. We do not accept responsibility for uninsured items.
